Welcome to the third blog post on the Testnet Faucet blog! In this post, we will cover some of the many blockchain explorers for the different testnets of Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Groestlcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain (BNB), and Polygon.
Explorers are the gateway to the blockchain as they make viewing the blockchain a lot easier than having to use the core wallet with transaction index enabled to explore transactions. They offer an easy-to-navigate web interface to search up transactions, view blocks, network information, and a lot more. Without explorers, cryptos may not have taken off due to it being difficult for the new user to explore the chain and for requiring that everyone to download the entire blockchain just to use it. Explorers play a huge role even in the testnet as they allow for developers to see if their transactions are going through and for EVM-based chains, they allow developers to see if their smart contracts/decentralized applications (dapps) are working properly before deployment on the mainnet. Without explorers, it could be a lot more challenging to do these tasks as developers would need to download the entire blockchain which increases the time needed just to download the chain and storage requirements. This can be an issue especially for the Ethereum testnet where the entire blockchain is over 175 GB as of December 2022.
In the next part of this post, we will cover some of the many different testnet explorers for many different networks including those of the coins listed on the faucet and EVM-based networks such as Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain (BNB), and Polygon.
In this section we will list some popular explorers for the Bitcoin testnet (tBTC).
In this section we will list some popular explorers for the Litecoin testnet (tLTC).
In this section we will list some popular explorers for the Dogecoin testnet (tDOGE).
In this section we will list some popular explorers for the Groestlcoin testnet (tGRS).
In this section we will list some popular explorers for the Bitcoin Cash testnet3 (tBCH3/tBCH).
In this section we will list some popular explorers for the Bitcoin Cash testnet4 (tBTC4/tBCH).
In this section we will list some popular explorers for the Ethereum testnets (tETH).
In this section we will list some popular explorers for the Binance Smart Chain testnet (tBNB).
In this section we will list some popular explorers for the Polygon testnets (tMATIC).
I hope you enjoyed this post and found it to be helpful in discovering a suitable block explorer for the testnet. Every block explorer is unique in how it displays and aggregates data, but they all serve the same purpose of displaying the blockchain data specific to each coin's network. Some may offer additional statistics, but ultimately, the choice of which block explorer you decide to use is entirely up to you!
If you know of another explorer that I should list here, please don't hesitate to contact me here.
